Evening Opportunities

We have developed a weekly evening session, an open session for all to attend and enjoy. This session gives our users the chance to get involved in delivering activities such as bingo calling, organising the raffle and the disco. We also support work skills opportunities at this session, our users get the chance to work behind the bar, in the café and front of house. We have session reviews regularly where users are able to discuss how they should spend any income generated and plans for future sessions.

Sapphire Club

Hot food will be available to purchase on the night and any allergies or dietary requirements can and will be catered for. However if you have a specific need please contact us in advance.

We are striving to to improve our services continually and any feedback or suggestions will be welcomed.

Fitness & Sports

Important for both mental and physical health we offer a weekly fitness session in partnership with SWFC, cycling, swimming and gym visits.

Entertainment & Leisure

Our programme includes visits to the theatre, cinema, bowling, crazy golf, tea dances and pub lunches. We also occasionally take trips to the coast or to a theme park

Gardening

With a new investment in the spacious gardens beside our building, we’re creating a ‘farm-to-table’ experience; alonside opening our potting shed for those users who have a green fingers.

Support for Carers

We intend to have parents and carers amongst our board members and regularly provide a place for all parents and family carers of people with a learning disability to share experiences, advice and support. We want to understand what people want from their support, and to make sure that families and friends know how we will help them to make it happen. Working closely with service users we aim to find out what their passions are and wherever possible assist with overcoming challenges and removing barriers in order to enable them to live more fulfilling lives.

Cooking

We have a café on site in which we encourage people to take responsibility for, they learn skills such as operating a till, taking orders, managing sales whilst learning valuable customer service skills.

We also anticipate vocational qualifications will be possible in areas such as customer service, health and safety and food hygiene.

Social Media Awareness

Almost all of our service users have some sort of social media and it is vital that we discuss how to stay safe online.

Lots of relations are now formed using social media as our users may attend many diffeferent groups which does encourage these platforms to be used. Our aim is that all of our users are able to make well informed decisions on who they talk to online and the content of what they share.

Qualifications

Whilst formal qualifications in areas such as maths and English are available if required developing key skills play an important part in all of our activities. An example of this is nutrition, the importance of being healthy and eating healthily are included as part of our fitness opportunities. Numeracy and literacy skills play a huge part in most of our sessions, writing is part of daily journals and mathematical skills are enhanced in a variety of ways such as baking, purchasing goods and simply playing a game of bingo. We also anticipate vocational qualifications will be possible in areas such as customer service, health and safety and food hygiene.

Paying for Sapphire Project

Every person with a learning disability has the right to access a care package. If you do not already have a package in place we can offer a free of charge service which will help you to achieve this.
